Your device

Linux

  • The agent: CLI, hooks and engine. No desktop app.
  • A .deb for Debian and Ubuntu, or a tarball for other distributions.
  • One package for amd64 and arm64.
  • Needs Node.js 18 or newer.

Tarball (.tar.gz) and SHA256SUMS, or pick a version from GitHub releases ↗

Homebrew (optional)

Not required — the .dmg is the complete Mac install. If you manage your Mac apps with Homebrew, the same signed app is available as a cask:

brew install --cask gitayg/tap/moorai

Install on Linux

Download the package and SHA256SUMS from the GitHub release, check them, then install with dpkg or the tarball’s install.sh. Before each release, CI installs the .deb on Ubuntu 20.04, on amd64 and arm64, and runs the installed hook.

V=1.38.1 # the release you are installing
base=https://github.com/gitayg/moorai/releases/download/v$V
curl -fL -O "$base/moorai_${V}_all.deb" -O "$base/moorai-$V-linux.tar.gz" -O "$base/SHA256SUMS"
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS
sudo dpkg -i "moorai_${V}_all.deb"   # or: tar -xzf "moorai-$V-linux.tar.gz" && sudo sh "moorai-$V/install.sh"
moorai-install-hooks # as each user: registers the hooks in ~/.claude/settings.json

The package puts the agent under /usr/lib/moorai and links every moorai-* command into /usr/bin. It needs Node.js 18 or newer: without it, dpkg -i installs with a warning and moorai-install-hooks refuses. Two systemd user units ship disabled: moorai-hooks.service registers the hooks at each user’s login and moorai-serve.service runs the loopback engine sidecar. Every option is in the README’s Linux package section.

Management Console

The console manages policy, devices and reports for a fleet of agents. It receives category, risk and a keyed hash (plus the login and hostname, which the console pseudonymises on arrival) from each device, never prompt text.

Hosted

  • We run it for you; nothing to install on a server.
  • Paid; contact us for pricing.
  • After sign-up, the console gives you an agent installer bound to your organization.

Private deployment

  • Runs in your own environment as a Docker container.
  • Free, with no user limit. Available on request.

No desktop app needed for the hooks: one command installs MoorAI’s Claude Code hooks from a terminal with git and Node 18+, and a second adds Codex, Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI or Cursor. Step by step in the quick start; every option is in the README’s install section. The community agent is open source (MIT): source on GitHub ↗. Questions before you install? Contact us.
